Congratulations to FDR Mom
Earns two national awards in last year
Congratulations to Nicolle Ragone, a mother of seven children,
PTO president of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Elementary School and
a member of PTO Council who earned national recognition for a
PTO event held at school. Last March she was one of 13 in the
capital region nominated for the prestigious Jefferson award, a
national award that honors people for public service.
Ragone submitted FDR’s reading night event to PTO Today as a
model event. The event was selected and is featured with event
photos on the national website -
http://www.ptotoday.com/community/photos?groupid=38.
Ragone said she was proud that FDR’s reading night was selected
as one of the best in the U.S.
This accolade comes after Ragone was honored as one of the
capital region nominees for the Jefferson Award -
http://www.jeffersonawards.org - at a banquet last year held
at the Century House. The ceremony was sponsored by by St.
Peter’s Health Care Services, NewsChannel 13 and the Times
Union. An honoree award was presented to Ragone by Albany
District Attorney David Soares.
Ragone, who works full-time and is one of few parents who
attends every school PTO meeting, said she was proud when Soares
announced that she was the first PTO member in the area to
receive the honorary award.
“I started doing the PTO work to show my children that education
is important and to support their school,” said Ragone.
