Students Honor Veterans at Ceremony Last Week

Students from Yates Magnet School, Central Park Magnet School, Oneida Middle School and Schenectady High School participated with their scout troops in a flag ceremony and dinner at the Hibernian Hall on Veteran's Day.

"I feel privileged to honor the veterans here tonight," said Henry Liebers, an Oneida Middle School 8th grader and member of Boy Scout Troop 72.  Liebers played "Call to the Colors" on his bugle.  The Girl Scouts posted the American Flag and led the Pledge of Allegiance and "America the Beautiful."

Many had tears in their eyes as Olivia Canavan, a Central Park 6th grader played taps at the end of the flag ceremony.

"This was wonderful," commented one local veteran.  "We will have to have these young people come back again."
