Congratulations
to Tuesday Spelling Bee Winners
Students advance to regional showdown
Congratulations to
Emily Armour, a 5th grader at Van Corlaer Elementary
School, who out-spelled 49 students to capture the Schenectady
City School District 2011 Spelling Bee Championship held
Tuesday, January 4 in the Mont Pleasant Middle School
Auditorium.

Kenneth Valentin,
a 6th grader at Van Corlaer and Krishna Madani, a 6th grader at
Woodlawn Elementary School took second and third place
respectively.
Armour was crowned
champion after Valentin misspelled consciousness. Armour
correctly spelled Valentin's missed word as well as the next
word which was photosynthesis.

Valentin were awarded trophies and earned spots in the regional
spelling bee which will be held at Proctor's Theatre on February
9 at 5 p.m.
The district
competition consisted of three students, ranging from grades
4-6, from each Schenectady elementary school. All of the
participants finished in the top three of their individual
school competitions.
