New Superintendent Wants to
Meet Community & Listen to Concerns

Meet Superintendent Yagielski.  Talk about your concerns.  Be heard.

Series of Community Forums Scheduled

Schenectady City School District Superintendent John Yagielski will be holding a series of community forums that begin next week and will run throughout the summer.  The first forum will be held on Tuesday, July 20 from 7-9 pm at Carver Community Center.

Yagielski said he wants to give everyone in the community an opportunity to express their feelings and share their views about the school district.  “I recognize that the community is upset and angry,” said Yagielski.  “I am going to listen to what they have to say and what they think needs to be addressed.”  The superintendent has said that one of his top goals is to work toward rebuilding community confidence in the district leadership.

The community forums are part of a much larger outreach plan.  Over the next couple of months, Yagielski plans to meet with staff members, parents, recent graduates and students who recently completed the 9th grade.  “Much of the restructuring plan focuses on freshmen,” said Yagielski.  “I want to sit down with some students and listen to what they have to say about their experiences.”

All of the forums are open to the public.
