Pennies for
Patients
2010 Campaign underway
Pennies for
Patients, a fund-raising program in which students collect
coins to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, is
especially meaningful and personal to one Elmer Avenue family.
When 6th grader Ethan Szemansco was a kindergartener, his three
year old brother Jack was diagnosed with Leukemia. After
six months of hospitalization, a bone marrow transplant, a year
of treatment and recovery at home, Jack attended three months of
preschool and then entered kindergarten in the Fall of 2006.
Today Jack is a third grader celebrating five years of
remission.
The
staff and families of Elmer Avenue, especially the Szemansco
family, are grateful for the generosity of all those who donated
their change to help make a difference in the lives of others -
patients like Jack.
Over the last
four years, Elmer Avenue has proudly raised $3,593.
