Central Park Keeps the Lights on Afterschool
Program draws attention to the importance
of afterschool programs

Central Park Middle School celebrated “Lights on Afterschool”
on October 18. Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide program
that draws attention to the importance of having afterschool
programs for America’s children, families and communities.
Afterschool programs provide opportunities to help young people
by keeping them supervised, safe and learning after the school
day ends.
The Central Park students enjoyed a visit from JD of JAMZ 96.3
who talked about his career in radio and answered the many
questions students had about his profession.
Lights on Afterschool began in 2000 with celebrations in more
than 1,200 communities nationwide. The event has grown over the
years with 1 million Americans celebrating Lights on Afterschool
this October.
