Central Park 8th Grader
Wins Junior Achievement Job Shadow Essay Contest
Congratulations Dillon Gaylord
Dillon
Gaylord, an 8th grader from Central Park Middle School, was
recently an essay winner in a Junior Achievement of
Northeastern New York Job Shadow contest. Dillon was
honored and presented with a certificate and a $100 U.S.
Saving Bond at a reception held at Glen Sanders Mansion.
Gaylord was one
of two local students whose essays were selected by Junior
Achievement as winners in the contest which was part of the
Groundhogs Day Job Shadow Field Trip. The annual
program brings students from around New York to a variety
of worksites where they are exposed to and mentored by the many
employees and see many put their skills to work.
As
part of the project, students are asked to submit an essay after
the field trip that outlines their goals, educational
aspirations and feelings about the overall experience of the job
shadow field trip. Gaylord was among the 30 Central
Park Middle School students who visited the New York State
Office of Historic Preservation at Peebles Island.
"We are very
proud of Dillon and congratulate him and his family on this
honor," said teacher Larry Drew.
