Central Park
Students, Principal Greet
President Obama at Airport Friday
Two
students from Central Park International Magnet School, the
school principal and a guidance counselor were at Albany
International Airport last Friday to greet President Obama when
he came to town to visit General Electric.
Principal Tonya
Federico, guidance counselor Cindy Dalrymple and students Isaiah
Wade and Asmah Hashimi had front row spots on the tarmac where
the President approached them after stepping off his plane.
Obama spoke to the students and shook each of their hands.
Federico
said it was exciting watching Air Force One land right in front
of them. Obama stepped behind the motorcade when he exited the
plane. “We thought he was just going to get in the vehicle and
go,” said Federico. But instead, Obama walked along a barricade
that separated him from the group and shook everyone’s hand.
Federico said she
welcomed him to Schenectady. Dalrymple thanked the President
for coming.
Obama
had a conversation with Hashimi, asking the student her name,
age and complimenting her scarf.
“We are all so
grateful for the experience,” said Federico.
