Recognizing Warren Snyder who
served on the board for 15 years
The Schenectady Board of
Education recognized retiring Board of Education Member Warren
R. Snyder with a resolution that stated the following:

Board Member, Mr.
Snyder, is as of June 30, 2008 leaving the Schenectady City
School District Board of Education

Mr. Snyder has
devoted 15 years of service; the longest running Schenectady
City School District Board of Education member
-
The members of the
Board of Education are desirous of commending Warren
Snyder for his contributions to the school system.
Mr. Snyder's
invaluable contributions are hereby recognized.
Mr. Snyder has
served on the Board of Education from July 1993 through June
2008, the longest serving elected board member in the history of
the Schenectady City School District.
Mr. Snyder served
as Board of Education President for four years and Vice
President for eight years.
Mr. Snyder
has served as Chairman of the Board's Budget Committee during
his tenure on the Board. As Chairman of the Budget
Committee, Mr. Snyder led the meticulous review of proposed
school budgets, including a line by line review of proposed
budgets prior to final Board adoption of annual school budgets.
Mr. Snyder also
has served as Chairman of the Board's Discipline Committee
during his tenure on the Board. As Chairman of the
Discipline Committee, Mr. Snyder was responsible for the
development of extensive improvements in the Student
Discipline Code and for increased attention to the positive
impact of orderly student behavior.
Mr. Snyder also
served as Chairman of the Board's Policy Committee during his
tenure on the Board. As Chairman of the Policy Committee,
Mr. Snyder spearheaded the adoption of a complete overhaul of
the Board of Education policy manual in 1993 and more recently
worked tirelessly to again completely update the Board of
Education policy manual.
Mr. Snyder also
has served as Chairman of the Board's Audit Committee during his
tenure on the Board. As the first Chairman of the newly
mandated Audit Committee, Mr. Snyder broke new ground in efforts
designed to ensure fiscal stability and integrity for the
District.
Mr. Snyder has
served as Chairman of the Board's Technology Committee during
his tenure on the Board. He was a leader in developing a
district-wide computer infrastructure investing in a large scale
purchase of computer equipment providing students the
opportunity to be computer literate upon graduation.
During his service
as Chairman of the Technology Committee, Mr. Snyder pioneered in
the creation of acceptable computer use policies, the
development of acceptable use consent agreements for students
and staff and the amendment to the Student Discipline Code
to promote responsible use of the District technology.
Mr. Snyder has
served as Chairman of the Board's Operations & Management
Committee during his tenure on the Board. As Chairman of
the Board's Operations and Management Committee, Mr. Snyder
oversaw the consistent use of the Effective Schools Survey which
provided unparalleled feedback to monitor District success.
Mr. Snyder has
been a member of many screening and interview committees for the
School District selecting building and District leaders.
Mr. Snyder has
been instrumental in passing annual school budget votes.
Mr. Snyder has
been a key person of passing several bond issue votes for
physical improvements to the District.
