September 2, 2009

To: All faculty and staff

As the School Board President, it gives me great pleasure to extend the very best wishes to each and every adult and student within the Schenectady City School District. I wish you a smooth start to the 2009-2010 school year.

This is an exciting time for all of us. Each September, we start the school year with high expectations and great anticipation of the exciting and great things to come. Over the past year our district has undergone innovations and renovations at every level, from elementary school through secondary. I am aware of the sacrifice that you have all made, and continue to make, in order for us to stay on track with the renovation plans and tight schedule.

I know that you have attended numerous workshops, training and retraining sessions in addition to taking advantage of other opportunities designed to help improve and upgrade our curriculum, programs and services. It's a heavy responsibility, but as educators, we must strive to reach, educate and inspire every child, socially, emotionally, physically and especially academically. I thank you for all that you are doing for our district, our students and our families.

As this new academic year begins, I wish to assure you that education, as a whole, has my attention and is of the highest priority. I am aware that teachers have an overwhelming responsibility to prepare our students of today for the future. As the school year progresses, I know that you will put in long hours and complete additional assignments along side of your regular responsibilities in the classroom. I want to let you know that I appreciate all the sacrifices that you have made and will continue to make. I am grateful and extremely confident that the academic success of our students will serve as our reward down the road when each is a productive, responsible citizen within the community.

Once again, I wish you strength, patience, understanding and a very successful 2009-2010 school year.

Sincerely,

Maxine Brisport
