Dear parents,
students and families,
With the holiday
season upon us, I would like us to reflect upon the real meaning
of Thanksgiving. Many of us strive to give thanks every day, not
just on Thanksgiving. This is a time of fellowship with our
families, friends, and loved ones. Let us spend time with our
families and all those in our care and simply appreciate all
that we have together. Let us remember the many blessings that
we have in our lives and give thanks for our family, friends,
health, and prosperity. Let us remember that it is equally
important to be thankful and to give. I am especially thankful
for the hospitality, generosity and the friendship so many
members of the school community have given me over the past few
months. I feel so fortunate to be a part of a district and
community that cares so deeply about all our children.
On Thanksgiving Day as you take a moment to reflect on the many
things for which you are thankful, please remember to be
thankful for the teachers, support staff and administrators who
really care about student achievement and have the best interest
of our students at heart. Be thankful for the support of our
fellow parents who volunteer numerous hours to provide programs
and services to enrich our student’s academic day. Most of all I
am thankful for your children who come to school every day ready
to learn.
On behalf of the Schenectady City School
District and Board of Education, I would like to wish you all a
happy and relaxing Thanksgiving and holiday season.
Sincerely,
Maxine Brisport
School Board President
