Sports Guide For Parents
.........................................

The Schenectady City School District offers more than seventy different sports teams to residents attending any of the three middle schools, the high school or the Career Center at Steinmetz.  All costs associated with facilities, uniforms, coaches, and transportation are free of charge.

Coaches are licensed by the State of New York and possess current First Aid and CPR certification.

The SCSD does not discriminate based on race, gender or religious background.

All grade and age appropriate students are eligible to tryout for teams.  Selection, however, is at the discretion of the coaching staff.  Skill, potential, character and ability to be coached are among the determining factors.

Participation in interscholastic athletics is voluntary and does involve some risk.  The SCSD takes every precaution and provides safe equipment, facilities and the instruction of safe techniques.   Please consult the coach, athletic director or your physician if you have concerns.

Physicals can either be provided by your own physician or free of charge from the school.  Please contact your school nurse at least one month prior to the beginning of the sports season to make arrangements for a physical, or to be sure the paperwork indicating a physical complete by your physician,  is on file.
